How to Download, Install and Configure mIRC
5.0 for Windows 95
Download
- Connect to APT.net
- Open a web browser (Netscape Navigator, MSIE, etc.)
- Go to the web site http://www.shareware.com

- In the Quick Search text box, type mirc
- Click the mirc50t.exe link.
- Click any one of the mirc50t.exe links. (Choose the site closest to you.)
- Download mirc50t.exe to your desktop.

Install
- When the file has finished downloading, minimize your web browser.
- On the desktop, double-click the mirc50t.exe icon to begin installation.

- Click the Install icon.

- Click the OK button to finish installation.

- Click the Start button.

- Point to Programs.
- Point to mIRC v5.0.
- Choose mIRC32.
- Click the Author's picture to close the spash screen.

Configure
- Click the drop-down arrow to the right of Random Dalnet, scroll down the list to Undernet:
CA, US, SanDiego and select it. (Most servers will work, but this particular server is
one of the most reliable.)

- In the Full Name text box, type your name.
- In the E-Mail Address text box, type your email address. For example:
username@apt.net
- In the Nickname text box, type your userID or some other name by which you would
like to be known on IRC.
- In the Alternative text box, type another name that you would like to be known by
on IRC, in case your name is already taken on a particular network at any point.

- Choose the Options tab.
- Check Retry.
- Set Retry to 10 times.
- Set Default Port to 6669.

- Choose the Identd tab.
- Check Enable Identd Server.
- In the User ID text box, type your APT username.

- Click the OK button.
- From the File menu, choose Connect.
