Windows95 Dialup Networking Help

If you do not have an account, you will need to set one up with APT.Net Sales (305-418-4111) before continuing. Or click the "Join Now" link in the left menu panel.

  1. You are going to need your Windows 95 CD or diskettes, so make sure you have them handy
  2. Double-click My Computer on your desktop.
  3. Double-click the Control Panel icon.
  4. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  5. Click the Windows Setup tab.
  6. Click the Communications component.
  7. Click the Details... button.
  8. Put a check in the box next to Dial-Up Networking.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click OK again.
  11. Windows 95 will prompt you for your installation diskettes or CD.
  12. Wait for Dial-Up Networking to install.
  13. When you are told to restart, click OK.
  14. Click the Start button.
  15. Click Shut Down.
  16. Select Restart the computer?
  17. Click Yes.
  18. Wait for Windows 95 to restart
  19. Click the Network icon in the Control Panel window.
  20. Click the IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol component.
  21. Click the Remove button.
  22. Click the NetBEUI component.
  23. Click the Remove button.
  24. Click the Add button.
  25. Click the Protocol component.
  26. Click the Add button.
  27. Click Microsoft under Manufacturers.
  28. Click TCP/IP under Network Protocols.
  29. Click OK.
  30. Click the Add button.
  31. Click Client.
  32. Click the Add button.
  33. Click Microsoft under Manufacturers.
  34. Click OK.
  35. You should now have only three network components: Client for Microsoft Networks, Dial-Up Adapter, and TCP/IP.
  36. Click OK.
  37. When Windows 95 prompts you to restart the computer, click OK.
  38. Wait for the computer to restart.
  39. When you see the login prompt, click OK without entering a password. (This will ensure that you will not be prompted to login to your own computer again.
  40. Close the Control Panel window.
  41. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon in the My Computer window.
  42. Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
  43. Under Type a name for the computer you are dialing type Agetech.Net

  44. Click the Next button.
  45. Determine which access number (POP) is local for you. If you don't know click here for our Access Numbers
  46. Type the area code and telephone numbers in the appropriate fields.
  47. Click Next.

  49. Click the Agtech.Net icon.
  50. Click File from the menu bar.
  51. Click Properties.
  52. Click the Server Type button.

  53. Uncheck Log on to network.
  54. Uncheck NetBEUI.
  55. Uncheck IPX/SPX Compatible.
  56. Click the TCP/IP Settings button.

  57. Select Server assigned name server addresses.
  58. Select Server assigned IP Address

  59. Click OK.
  60. Click OK one more time.
  61. To download and install Netscape Navigator, go to the document How to Download, Install and Configure Netscape Navigator.
  62. To download and install Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the document How to Download, Install and Configure Microsoft Internet Explorer.
